1) Training/pickup:
Monday/Sunday
North oval/Fellow's oval
Pickup is now running weekly on Sunday arvos on Fellow's oval. ANU Totem training is on Monday nights from 6.30pm at North oval. Training/pickup is open to all levels of players- and yes, I am including those of you who have never played a game before, we'll be starting from the very beginning. So come along, there'll be something for you to learn whether you're still a beginner or if you're Leon Smith (who played Ultimate at the ANU in approximately 1920- j/k Leon).
For those who haven't heard, we're training with the ultimate (har har) goal of attending the Australian Univeristy Games in the Perth at the end of September. We'll be looking to send a squad with some old faces and some fresh talent, so if you've just started playing this year definitely come along to training, and you may very well get the chance to represent your University and party it up in Perth!
2) Lunchtime sport
Mondays 1-2pm
Willows Oval
Lunchtime sport will be starting again soon. Sign up sheets can be collected from the ANUSRA.
3)The following are tournaments that ANU Totem may send teams to this year. WATCH this space!
4) Savage Sevens
Saturday August 15, 9am-5pm
UNSW, Sydney
This is a great little one-day Tournament up in Sydney with a fun, casual atmostphere and lots of great teams to play against. We would encourage ALL of our squad to participate, especially our newer players and those not attending AUGs, because there's nothing like a tournament to get you all fired up and ready to play more Ultimate! Tournaments are also a great way to improve your skills, get to know your team, meet new people and learn wacko new spirit games. Sonic BOOM!
The only catch? You have to play savage. That is, no subs.
So, if you want a good run around, get in touch with us anu.disc.enthusiasts@gmail.com and we'll put you on a team. It's first come first served, so get a move on!
Saturday August 23, 9am-5pm
Centennial Park, Sydney
This is a warmup-tournament for all of our players who plan to play Australian Uni Games with the ANU Totem team. At this stage, we will be taking only the players selected to the squad. More info to follow.
6) Shenanigans (To Be Confirmed)
Saturday September 12, 9am-5pm
Downer Playing Fields, Canberra
Hooray! Finally a Tournament in Canberra! We are currently in negotiations with the Sydney Universities, to try to convince them to leave their warm city and come to where the grass is greener, the Ultimate is better and everyone knows what "APS 4" means. If negotiations are succesful, this will be another AUGs warmup tourament, attended by 4-6 Sydney teams, and possibly Newcastle, Bathurst, Ballarat or Melbourne teams as well.
We would also field 2 ANU teams, one team made up of players attending AUGs, and second team made up of the rest of our squad and alumni.
More info on this tournament to follow (pending negotiations.)
